When a storm strikes and The Bahamas and other Caribbean islands call for help, Bahamas Habitat quickly reaches out to our dedicated volunteer pilots and puts together a crackerjack team to fly in materials from around the country to our base in Ft. Lauderdale, and then transport them to the islands. Volunteers bring in supplies including water, medicine, building materials, food, clothing and air conditioners and help with clean-up. Following the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Bahamas Habitat worked with other volunteers to organize over 400 relief flights in sixty days to serve the people of Haiti. Bahamas Habitat was recognized by the National Aeronautic Association as the Outstanding Public Benefit Flying Organization in 2010. After Hurricane Irene, Bahamas Habitat organized aid flights to The Bahamas. To donate to Disaster Relief, click the donate button at the right side of this page.
